2012 Westchase Express Cougars Collegiate Summer Program
Cougars are now accepting early commitments for the 2012 summer program. Just as in the past, the Cougars will play a 55+ game schedule that includes collegiate summer league games and regional tournaments.
This summer's tournament schedule will include the traditional annual trip to Oklahoma over the Memorial Weekend the last week of May and the AABC SW Regional tournament held the 1st week of August. Also the Cougars will be returning to Denver Colorado over the 4th of July for the Mile High Classic. In addition to these familiar tournaments, the Cougars will plan on traveling to Witchita, Kansas for the NBC World Series or to Florida for the AABC Stan Musial World Series along with any qualifying tournaments in late July.
In preparation of this summer's commitments and the demand for sufficient number of players to meet the grueling summer schedule we have decided to provide opportunities for out-of-area players to join the summer program.
With this is mind, players that are wanting to come to Houston, Texas to play this summer can with early notification. Out-of-state commitments must be committed by NLT January 31st, 2012. Players will have the option of requesting sponsor homes or making arrangements themselves. Fees for out of state players who require housing may have to pay an additional $500 for the summer. This will be used for transportation and expenses. We will look for and attempt to provide summer work options as available.
Player fees for the Cougar Collegiate Summer Program in 2012 will be $800 for the summer with a discount of $50 if paid in full by February 28th, 2012. The first 28 players that commits and pays their fees will be accepted. Only 24 players will be carried on the final regional tournament and world series rosters. Other 4 players will then receive a $75 reimbursement and then be permitted to work with Coaching Staffs and team during the tournaments.
Player fees will be due in full NLT May 1st, 2011. Any arrangements for later payments are only available for those players who are still in their respective program post seasons.
Slots are quickly being filled and unlike past years, late applicants who do not commit by the required deadlines will have to wait to be notified NLT May 15th of acceptance. Out-of-state applicants may still be accepted after the deadline, but may have to be prepared to pay for lodging. Transportation will still be provided while in Houston and to / from the airports and/or bus stations. Other team arrangements may come depending on commitments.
To commit / register for the 2012 program go to the "2012 Summer - Player Registration" page. One of our coaches will contact you or your parents to discuss the program. The summer program will run from May 20th through August 16th (if qualify for Stan Musial World Series in Florida).
The fees collected along with sponsor support will be used to cover costs for league fees, umpires, equipment, use of jerseys, hats, pants, field rentals, and all misc. costs.
